APSASOL DOXYCYCLINE is intended for the treatment of the following infections of the respiratory and the alimentary tract caused by micro-organisms susceptible to Doxycycline..
POULTRY:
Treatment of Colibacillosis, Respiratory Disease Complex and Micoplasmosis caused by germs sensitive to Doxycycline.
CALVES (PRE-RUMINANT):
Treatment of Respiratory Disease Complex caused by Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma spp. and Manheimia haemolytica sensitive to Doxycycline.
PROPERTIES:
APSASOL DOXYCYCLINE is used for the treatment of infections of the
respiratory and the alimentary tract caused by bacteria sensitive to Doxycycline. Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum semi synthetic tetracycline; it is bacteriostatic, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis due to disruption of transfer RNA and messenger RNA at ribosomal sites.
COMPOSITION:
Each gram contains:
Doxycycline (hyclate).........500 mg
DOSAGE AND TARGET SPECIES
poultry and calves (pre-ruminant).
Poultry: 10-20 mg Doxycycline hyclate/kg body weight/day for 3-5 consecutive days. Calves (pre-ruminant): 10 mg Doxycycline hyclate/kg body weight/day for 3-5 consecutive days.
In order to obtain the correct dosage, it should be adjusted taking into account the daily water consumption.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Oral route in the drinking water.
It is recommended to dissolve the required quantity in a small quantity of water befare adding to the main water tank.
The medicated water should be the only source of drinking water.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Meat and offal (pigs, poultry and calves): 7 days.
Not permitted for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption. Not permitted for use in cattle producing milk for human consumption.
INTERACTIONS:
Absorption of Doxycycline may be diminished in the presence of high quantities of Ca, Fe, Mg or Al in the diet. Do not administer together with antacids, kaolin and iron preparations. Do not administer together with vaccines of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or to any of the excipients.
Do not administer to animals with severe liver- or kidney insufficiency.
